Brett Gillespie on WILS Reacting to the Governor’s State of the State Address
Following Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State address, Grand Ledge City Councilman Brett Gillespie shared his thoughts with Dave Akerly on the WILS Morning Wake-Up. The discussion focused on revenue sharing and the impact it has had on the City of Grand Ledge.
“Since 2002, as a state, cities have lost $8.6 billion in revenue sharing. Grand Ledge has lost just about $4 million, and for a city our size, that can have a pretty big impact,” Gillespie said. “If revenue sharing was increased, cities would have money to hire more police officers, more firefighters and improve our parks.”
Gillespie’s full interview can be heard on the WILS website.
