Dan Gilmartin to Discuss the Economic Power of Having a Vibrant Downtown
Dan Gilmartin of the Michigan Municipal League will be part of a lively panel discussion Wednesday about how promoting a vibrant, walkable downtown improves community engagement and workforce productivity.
Gilmartin, CEO and executive director for the League, will be discussing this 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Farmington Civic Center in Downtown Farmington.
The strong correlation between having a vibrant downtown and a strong area economy is a key message of the SaveMICity initiative.
Gilmartin is an internationally known expert on placemaking and is a frequent speaker about how today’s talent is drawn to strong communities that have invested in place and have amenities like a public transit, cultural activities, and a vibrant and walkable downtown.

Downtown Farmington and Metromode Media invite you to join us for a lively panel discussion – featuring a mix of regional and local speakers – with a community perspective. The theme? “How promoting a vibrant, walkable downtown improves community engagement and workforce productivity.”
Farmington DDA President Todd Craft will serve as the moderator, with panelists including: Brian Boyle, CEO/Founder of Metromode; Steve Schneemann, Mayor of Farmington; Dan Gilmartin, Executive Director, CEO, Michigan Municipal League; and, Farmington DDA Director Kate Knight.
Doors open at 6:45pm; program starts at 7:30pm. Light fare will be provided by Laziz Mediterranean Cuisine.
